400F Motors

400F direct drive will give very good thrust and great speed. This is an all around great motor - I consider it middle of the road for a variety of uses - fairly high speed direct drive but low enough KV to enable a fair size 6x4 prop. Geared you can decide what prop and speed you want based on the performance data posted on this web page. In a Helicopter you can run it 4S or 3S and dial in the performance. This will require a 3.17mm shank to be put on the 2.3mm axle to fit 21 tooth pinion for 3S.

The damn plane exceeded my expectations by so much that I totally destroyed it! I few it about 5 times on a 10-cell NiMH pack and on on the 6th I took it up into the clouds for the dive of all dives. . .

Came down so fast (full throttle) that I could not react in time. . .
It was moving so fast that I had no elevator control at all for the last 100 feet before it was diced through a tree and the pieces rained down on the golf course

It was AWSOME!!!!!!!

I am going to superglue it all back together tonight and do it again.
That is the first time I have ever crashed in a "major way" and that really is a testament to the added power.

I cant imagine what it is going to do when i finish cycling the LiPo's... They are a lot lighter than the 10-cell NiMH.

You sell a top notch product and I am absolutely satisfied.

Craig Thompson out with the helmet camera catches some video of his 52" Zagnutx Wing. Nice flyer - with good thrust and good speed. For speed demon see the 450TH or 400DF. The 400F is a conservative setup running for higher thrust than speed, 13-14 amps Static wide open throttle.

After seven years, my Clancy Lazy Bee is now electrified. I used a JustGoFly 400F brushless outrunner, geared 3.9:1 with an MTM gearbox swinging a 11x7 prop, a MTM 25A ESC and a TP2100 3S Lipo pack. The combo pulls around 8A and gives a thrust of ~21oz and a calculated Pitch Speed of ~35mph. The flying weight is 32 oz. The gearbox made for a bolt-on installation. The Lipo is placed on a tray at wheel level and is accessed thru a door in the fuse. Since the electric power system weighs ~7oz (compared to the weight of the OS .15 system of 11 oz), added noseweight was needed for airplane balance. The Dave Brown 4" foam wheels weighed some 2.5 coz total, gave additional prop clearance and added to the funky appearance of the eLZBee. I also relocated the servos and receiver 5" forward to achieve the required balance. The test flight was under less than ideal conditions with winds gusting to 10+ mph. The plane performed adequately: it had a strong takeoff roll 10+ and climbout, and had no trouble penetrating into the wind. With the light wingloading, slight elevator mis-trim and slight tailheaviness it was a handfull to fly, but the power system was more than adequate. Full throttle was 8A and an easy part-throttle was 3A, which suggests a flight time of 30+ minutes with the 2100mAh Lipo.

The plane in the video is a little cracker I had the idea of buying just the air frame of this RTF and putting my own gear in it,  it's worked out great I just modified the wing to make it fly faster. It's a real tough little plane and the wings and tail section are really cheap to replace if you have a prang. What  I really like about the 400f is it's ability to perform great on just  7 cells the more cells you add the better the performance and then of course Lippo...but its still the 7 to 8  cell that impresses me ( I've got a garage full of them so it's great to use them  and split them and make bigger packs saved me a lot of dough ( but I will go Lippo it's just that at the moment I don't fully trust the ESC that I have)

My name is Gary, I am the good looking one on the right. My buddy's name is Ron, or Big Daddy. We live in West Central Wisconsin, just east of the Mississippi River. We fly our Easy Stars all the time, as you can see even in the harsh Wisconsin winters. We both have the Tordado 400F brushless/w eight gp1100's turnin' 'em. Ron is still on his first plane, I am about to put my third one together, you can tell who is the boldest (dumbest) flier of the two. I have lots of fun, especially since we put the 400F's on the planes, man do they ever climb out !.

3D Pro - Zoom's solution to tail Wag RunRyder Thread

400F vs 400DF - power battle.

Zoom's demonstration of power in the 400F and 3DPro. He is adamant that the rating of this motor should be 20 amps, which is equivalent to the 400DF. Since the F has a lower KV than the 400DF it has higher torque and requires a larger tooth 20T pinion for the same performance.

400F in a Helicopter

The 400F is a very versatile and efficient motor. It is for fast flyers running direct drive. Check out the 400F video in a heli and a thread of a happy customer running it in a TwinJet to replace two motors and with verticle take off = TwinJet Thread. I run this motor direct drive in wings, jets and geared in planes great than 1 lb in weight. Less than 1 lb planes are ballistic and for those I recommend the 300DF. This motor is available in tractor 2.3mm axle, tractor 3mm axle, pusher 3mm axle. If you run it with a 3mm axle - consider also ordering the 3mm prop saver.
