300DF Motor

This motor works well in many gear sizes - the larger the gearing the bigger the prop you can run.

Pushers are for wings and Jets.

Tractor, or Puller, are conventional motors mounted on the front of a plane.

Check the videos on the main page for a few examples of this motor direct drive and geared.

Dr Kiwi Email

Everyone knows Dr. Kiwi. I asked Phil for a little background so we can know him more:

I grew up in New Zealand building planes from plans acquired from Aeromodeller in Britain (paid for with British Postal Notes), particularly cheap gliders hurled from the summits of volcanic cones (600ft or so), then went to C/L combat flying with 2.5cc Oliver Tiger Mk III diesels (one of mine, not new when I bought it in 1962, still runs beautifully!). After a hiatus of 35yrs (university BSc, Msc, PhD, some teaching, a stint as a research fellow at the Smithsonian, a wife and two kids, a research curators job (avian paleontology at the National Museum of New Zealand), and a move back to the US to teach Geology at UTC) I decided to stumble into R/C (2001). My piloting skills are woeful, but having 700 acres here on the Baylor School campus should allow me to hone them, if my
boat building, outboard maintenance, pater familial and professorial duties (now at Chattanooga State) let me have more free time.

RCPilot136 - flying a 300DF geared on a SlowStick:

My SS is really ripping up the sky, thanks to you guys and your help....Thanks a million ......Mark....

I really like this motor on a 3.4:1 gearbox and a 10x4.5 prop for slow fly and 11x7 for more speed. This motor, although small, is not at all like a CD ROM motor. Most CD ROM motor kits can be purchased for $30 or less. This motor has a high quality bell, larger stator than most CD ROM's and as you can see from the data below is alot more powerful than CD ROM motors. The magnets are unusually powerful. The bell slips off with force from your hands, and this motor can easily be rewound, should you ever decide to experiment with rewinding motors. Rewind, slip the bell on and run it. I personally like to just slip this 2250 KV motor in a plane direct drive and fly. On a pusher it is unbelievably fast. Click on video's to see all of our videos. Click Previous on the bottom of this dialog to see direct drive charts, and Next to see 3.9:1 gearing.
